  Inside MOMA's house

It’s that time of year again – time to stop and reflect on all of the places we’ve gone, people we’ve met, and the places we have yet to go! Over the last three months, MOMA’s house has been blessed to have been at the center of many wonderful events and surrounded by even more amazing people.

FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award

Every year, the FBI honors the very best among individuals and organizations that make extraordinary contributions to their community.  This year, MOMA’s house was selected for the state of Arizona to receive the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.

On April 2, 2014, CEO/founder of MOMA’s house, Maraion A. Douglas, along with MOMA’s house Program Administrator, Mentors and Board/Team Members, traveled to Washington DC for presentation of the award by Mr. James Comey, Director of the FBI.

Dorrance Scholarship Award

MOMA's house was presented the Dorrance Scholarship Award. The award was for $3,600 from the Arizona Community Foundation. Many thanks to Mr. James Hensley for recommending us and to everyone involved who made this possible.

CCV Community Care Team

Many thanks to the CCV Community Care Team for supporting MOMA’s house with building maintenance and equipment repair. MOMA’s house is truly blessed because of their generosity, dedication and selfless efforts.

Free to Laugh Comedy Fundraiser

Words cannot express the thanks and appreciation MOMA’s house has for all who attended and/ or donated to the Free to Laugh comedy fundraiser.  All ticket proceeds from this event were donated to four local organizations that strive to combat commercial sex trafficking and MOMA’s house was blessed to have been one of those recipients.  This charitable donation will allow us to provide services to even more women in need and help us to continue to grow!

Garage Clean Up

We extend our "Thanks" to the FBS Youth Group for volunteering their Sunday morning to giving MOMA's house garage a total makeover.  This amazing group of young people helped turn our clutter into an organized storage area where we are now able to access supplies more easily!

Resident Update

Since our last newsletter we have welcomed three new residents to MOMA’s house where we are currently providing services to four women. We would like to congratulate two of our residents for completing the first six weeks of their programs! The first six weeks is usually the most difficult because it is a time period in which the residents are expected to focus on themselves and the healing process. Yet, these ladies have overcome physical and emotional obstacles and we could not be more proud of them! It brings us such joy to watch these women evolve into emotionally stable, self-sufficient human beings and we are excited to stand by them as they continue their journeys here at MOMA’s house.
