  Inside MOMA's house
Looking Back at 2013

In 2013, MOMA’s house provided services to a total of fifteen women.  Our incredible Team helped them identify the steps needed to create positive life changes. We are proud to announce that ten of the fifteen residents completed their program.  Two achieved the goal of earning a GED and five passed the Food Handler’s Test.

Thank You

We thank all who participated and donated during the year and at our fundraiser events. With all your support, we were able to waive the administration fees for seven of the women who completed their programs in 2013. Without these donations, the opportunity to serve them would not have been possible, so we thank you for your generosity!

Honoring Seven Women

In October 2013, MOMA’s house honored seven women during our Annual Open Door Awards ceremony.  We are so proud of them.  They dedicated themselves and worked hard to improve their lives. New Life Community Church was an extremely important part of this event.  They provided the venue, volunteers and support for that event and MOMA’ house would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to New Life for always lending a helping hand and more.

Give MOMA a H.U.G.

This year MOMA’s house needs a H.U.G. – Help Us Grow!

It is our goal to assist women who have survived abuse to become confident, self-sufficient, independent people. We want women everywhere to have a safe place to heal and become whole again.

Board Members

Introducing our newly elected board members:  Michael Crenshaw and Melissa Simon.  A big "Thank You" to our outgoing Secretary, Ms. MaryAnn Wilkerson for her commitment and dedication.

Forever Being Involved

MOMA’s house CEO/Founder Ms. Maraion Douglas has been the recipient of the following awards in 2013:

Angel on Earth Award from Angels Among Us Project.  This award was presented to Ms. Douglas by CEO, John Shimer, for selfless lifestyle and personal sacrifices to benefit those less fortunate.  Her dedication and hard work is greatly appreciated.

All God’s Children Collector’s Club of Arizona held a luncheon for Notable African-American Men and Women of Arizona.  Ms. Douglas was presented the Harriet Tubman Humanitarian Award for selfless dedication to helping women transform their lives while in recovery from domestic violence and human trafficking.

In April 2014, Ms. Douglas will receive the Director’s Community Leadership Award from the Director of the FBI in Washington, D.C. This is a huge honor and achievement; therefore, we would like to not only congratulate Ms. Douglas, but also thank the FBI – or as Maraion would say the “Forever Being Involved” team for supporting MOMA’s house over the years.

ASU and Brown Mackie College Angels

In 2013, Arizona State University interns were instrumental with helping MOMA’s house residents’ with their schedules, computer skills, resume writing, job searches and much more.  They also dedicated countless hours to special events and fundraisers.  Their commitment shined during the Open Door Awards ceremony, which was a tremendous help to a great evening for the Team and residents of MOMA’s house.

This year MOMA’s house was blessed to partner with Brown Mackie College Phoenix. Through their externship program, four wonderful young women each contributed a minimum of 120 hours of service to MOMA’s house. We are so pleased to know that our externs have chosen to continue their work here at MOMA’s house after completing their degrees. We look forward to working with more externs in the future! If you are interested in becoming an extern/intern please visit www.momashouse.org for more information.
